tub

i haven’t lived anywhere with a swimming pool in probably a decade now, but i still act as if i had it at my last house and really bemoan the fact that i don’t have one now. i’m always looking for ways to get some sort of pool that the dogs can’t destroy into our yard, and think this just might be it! i love the things crafty people like jesse hartman come up with, don’t you?

diy chalkboard surfaces

i love having chalkboard surfaces throughout our house, and always notice something else that could use a fresh coat of black chalkboard paint. i adore the resurgence of hand lettering, label making, and menu displays – all on the good ol’ fashioned chalkboard. chalkboard paint is available in virtually every craft store and hardware store, is easy to apply, and dries super quick. aside from the occasional use of primer on metals and glass, you can pretty much apply it directly to any surface you want. don’t like paint? buy chalkboard contact paper to adhere to surfaces you want to write on. what are some of your favorite uses of chalkboard in the diy world?

antlered up

one of the weird things about living in utah is that people out here hunt animals. it’s a strange idea for me to accept, especially given my love of antlered creatures. the mountain man built me a giant wooden moose head sculpture for above the mantle so we could take part in the “mounting of animals on the wall” fun. now i’m thinking we’ll need to make some antlers out of sticks, much like the ones above by luke bartels, to make the look complete. do you have any faux taxidermy in your house?
